We The Living is a collage of narratives revealing the unseen lives of farmed and animals used in experiments. Through intimate visits to sanctuaries, conversations with groundbreaking animal-law lawyers, leaders in ethical food systems, and innovations from researchers creating humane alternatives, this feature documentary spotlights a growing movement for change. With everyday people at its heart, We The Living challenges audiences to rethink our relationship with the animals who share our world.

Director’s Note

I moved through most of my life without truly seeing or thinking about farmed or animals used in experiments. They existed at a distance. I never questioned their lives or what it meant for them to live inside these systems. That changed the moment I watched a documentary exposing the realities faced by dairy cows — irrevocably shifting my perspective.

As I began researching, two realizations struck me. First: these animals have virtually no rights or meaningful protections under the law. Second: there are many films that illuminate these truths in important ways. My hope is to create an experience that audiences can step into — one that informs and moves them while leaving room for hope and reflection.
